Job Summary :

A Asian Commis Chef is an entry-level culinary professional who assists in preparing and cooking a variety of Asian and Malay dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. This role is foundational in a professional kitchen and offers hands-on experience with traditional and modern Asian cooking techniques.

Key Tasks

  • Assist in cooking and plating dishes according to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Keep assigned kitchen stations clean, organized and stocked.
  • Operate and maintain tools like woks, steamers and fryers.
  • Monitor freshness, portion sizes and cooking temperatures.
  • Work closely with chefs and kitchen staff during service.
  • Help manage stock rotation and ingredient storage.
  • Follow strict food safety and sanitation protocols.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years in a kitchen environment.
  • Asian and Western cuisine background.
  • Experience in high-volume or casual dining environments.
  • Exposure to various cuisines, especially if the restaurant has a specialty.
  • Skills Needed

  • Culinary Basics : Knife handling, ingredient prep, and cooking techniques.
  • Asian & Western Cuisine Knowledge.
  • Ability to multitask during busy service hours.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with kitchen staff.
