This description reflects the responsibilities and qualifications for the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer role located in Penang, Malaysia.

Overview Responsible for all aspects of Quality including NPI Quality, Supplier Quality, Customer Quality, and CM related process control & Quality Systems. Establish culture and process control with CM toward a Zero-defects vision. Lead in major product, process and manufacturing issue resolution with 8D problem-solving and risk assessment. Collaborate with Contract Manufactures to host customer audits and manage customer complaints / enquiries.

Responsibilities

Establish standards for the disposition of finished product by in-depth failure mechanism understanding, evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.

Create product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

Collaborate with other departments in areas related to new product development, engineering designs and manufacturing changes; establish training methods and involve in NPI control plans, DFMEA and PFMEA reviews.

Implement effective in-process and post-process product inspection standards (including ORT).

Drive continuous improvements to Luminus’ quality management systems and product quality by establishing and enforcing quality standards, methods and procedures in contract manufacturing factories throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

5+ years’ experience in Semiconductor or LED product and packaging technology, tools and manufacturing processes.

Experience in high-volume factory support from supplier quality, factory quality to customer issue management.

Knowledge of LED / Semiconductor supplier selection, materials development, factory NPI and high-volume sustaining processes and systems.

Ability to apply and improve the SQE system, aligning to IATF and VDA expectations.

Broad knowledge of key defects, failure mechanisms, key FA techniques, and root cause hypotheses; familiarity with reliability stress concepts.

Excellent leadership and inter-personal skills across functions and regions; strong written and verbal communication with demonstrated customer-facing experience.

Analytic skills; cross-functional collaboration; QA process skills.

Experience with QA procedures in Automotive industry, preferably >

5 years.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF standards and trained auditor of VDA 6.3 / 6.5; experience with internal and CM factory audits; working knowledge of quality system requirements for automotive OEM products.

Critical skill : ability to communicate directly with Philippines and Taiwanese suppliers and customers, including reading, reviewing, and responding to emails / reports.

Work base in Penang, Malaysia with English and Mandarin Chinese speaking / writing ability as a MUST.

Ability to provide training to local and global teams on topics related to QMS and quality know-how.

Excellent knowledge in factory quality systems, complex quality issue management, supplier quality management and customer handling skills.

Strong logical thinking to drive automotive risk-based thinking and risk assessment; strategic & systemic thinking to assist the Quality Department head in identifying gaps and developing the global quality organization.

Location Penang, Malaysia. Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required for this role.
