Exadata Administrator

Overview

We’re hiring an Exadata Administrator to run, tune, patch, and secure Oracle Exadata infrastructure (compute + storage cells) and coordinate with DBAs and vendors. Focus : availability, performance, capacity planning, backups, and automation. On-call rotation required.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain Oracle Exadata stack (compute nodes, storage cells, InfiniBand / TOR).

Manage Grid Infrastructure, RAC, ASM and Database lifecycle (installation, patching, upgrades).

Execute RMAN backups / restores; integrate with backup appliances (ZDLRA, Oracle Secure Backup, NetBackup, etc.).

Diagnose and tune DB & storage performance (AWR / ASH, Smart Scan, IORM, storage indexes, HCC).

Monitor capacity and resource usage; plan growth for CPU, storage and network.

Runbook & SOP ownership; create clear change procedures and rollback plans.

Respond to incidents (24x7 on-call), troubleshoot hardware / software issues, and coordinate Oracle SRs.

Automate operational tasks (shell / python / Ansible / Terraform where applicable).

Ensure security and compliance : patching, auditing, encryption best practices.

Required (Must-Have) Qualifications

Degree or diploma in IT / Computer Science or equivalent experience.

3–5 years working with Oracle Database; ≥2 years hands-on Exadata production experience.

Strong skills in : RAC / ASM / Grid Infrastructure, Exadata cell management (CellCLI), RMAN.

Solid Linux administration (Oracle Linux / RHEL) and shell scripting.

Networking basics for Exadata : InfiniBand, MTU, TOR switches, VLANs.

Practical experience in performance troubleshooting (AWR / ASH, I / O analysis).

Able to work on-call and communicate clearly in English (Malay a plus).

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

Oracle Exadata or Oracle Database certifications.

Experience with ZDLRA (RA23 / RA24) or other backup appliances.

Exposure to Cloud Exadata / OCI.

Automation experience : Ansible, Python, Terraform.

Familiarity with monitoring platforms : OEM / Cloud Control, Grafana, Prometheus.

Experience with vendor escalation and Oracle Support SR processes.
