DTP Artist

Job Scope :

The DTP (Desktop Publishing) Artist is responsible for the layout, formatting, and visual consistency of academic learning materials such as textbooks, workbooks, teaching guides, and digital publications. The role ensures high-quality, print-ready files that meet both editorial and design standards, while adhering to curriculum and publishing timelines

Job Responsibilities :

Layout & Formatting

Design and format academic materials including textbooks, activity books, teaching guides, assessments, and digital files according to template and specifications.

• Apply consistent styles (e.g., headings, subheadings, captions, icons) across all pages and sections.

Ensure accuracy of page numbering, running headers / footers, tables, and figure

Design Adaptation

Adapt and adjust layout based on editor and content developer input.

Incorporate illustrations, photos, infographics, and charts into layouts in a visually appropriate way.

File Preparation & Output

Prepare final files for print production (CMYK, crop marks, bleeds).

Maintain organized file naming and archiving system.

Proofing & Quality Control

Perform thorough preflight checks before submission.

Ensure zero formatting errors and alignment with educational publishing standards

Software Proficiency

Use publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat proficiently.

Maintain knowledge of latest DTP and publishing software updates.

Collaboration

Work closely with editors, content writers, graphic designers, and project managers.

Participate in layout planning meetings and respond constructively to feedback.

Time Management

Manage multiple layout projects under tight deadlines.

Track progress and communicate any risks of delay to the production schedule.

Compliance

Ensure all output meets curriculum guidelines, ministry regulations (e.g., MOE) and accessibility standards (if required).
