Qualifications

  • Malaysian citizenship only.
  • Educational background : Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, International Business, or related disciplines, or an equivalent professional qualification recognized by the Government (MQA).
  • Experience :

Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in investment promotion, business development, economic planning, or a related field.

  • Experience in foreign direct investment (FDI), trade facilitation, and stakeholder engagement highly preferred.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement :
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Malay and English.

  • Proficiency in additional languages a great advantage.
  • Strong networking and relationship‑building skills to develop connections inside and outside company stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation and organizational skills to communicate investment opportunities and policies.
  • In‑depth understanding of Malaysia’s investment policies, incentives, regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to develop and implement investment promotion strategies, including investor targeting, outreach programs, and industry research.
  • Strong ability to see the bigger picture and contribute to discussions beyond specific remit.
  • Strong ability to analyze market trends, industry developments, global investment patterns.
  • Experience in preparing investment reports, policy recommendations, business proposals.
  • Ability to conduct economic impact assessments and competitor benchmarking.
  • Experience in event management, client relations, or public relations is a plus.
  • Result‑oriented self‑starter proactive, well‑organized, works autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi‑task while maintaining high accuracy, consistency, timely responses.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential issues sensitively.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and integrity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and digital collaboration tools.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Ability to adapt to fast‑paced and dynamic business environments.
  • Responsible to the Chairman, Board of Directors, Shareholders and Stakeholders for the following matters :

    Responsibilities

  • Coordinate research and analysis of FDI and DDI to identify trends, opportunities, challenges in local and global investment landscapes.
  • Collect, analyze, and compile up‑to‑date information on industrial, technological, and R&D developments affecting Melaka’s investment competitiveness.
  • Establish partnerships with government agencies, research firms, academic institutions, and industry organizations.
  • Prepare periodic reports on Melaka’s investment performance.
  • Assess economic impact of investments covering job creation, technology transfer, support industry expansion.
  • Support planning / execution of corporate communication strategies.
  • Manage collection / dissemination of investment‑related information through reports, newsletters, and official IMB publications.
  • Oversee digital platforms, websites, social media to communicate investment updates.
  • Collaborate closely with the Investment Development & Facilitation Division (BPPP) and the Communications Unit.
  • Coordinate media relations and strategic communications for positive coverage.
  • Engage with multinational corporations, local businesses, chambers of commerce, industry associations to gather insights.
  • Assist in organizing meetings and stakeholder engagement sessions.
  • Monitor effectiveness of investment promotion and communication initiatives, including data analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with IMB policies, state regulations, and stakeholder reporting requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Director / Head of Division based on IMB needs.
