Job Scope / Position Summary
The role is responsible for the end-to-end management of the Group Health portfolio ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.
Key responsibilities include :
- Overseeing case underwriting and approvals
- Driving product development and enhancement initiatives
- Delivering technical solutions aligned with broader business strategies
- Providing expert guidance on underwriting practices
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure operational excellence and sound risk management.
Main Responsibility
Portfolio Risk Management : Manage and monitor portfolio risk to support sustainable and profitable growth through ethical case underwriting and approval processesUnderwriting Team Development : Lead, coach, and provide continuous training for underwriters to enhance technical competency and ensure consistent underwriting standardsProduct Development Involvement : Collaborate in all aspects of Group Health product development including creation of product materials, system enhancements, and coordination of approvals from relevant stakeholders.Claims Support : Offer technical guidance to the Claims team to ensure benefit payouts are aligned with contractual policy termsDay to Day Administration and Operations : Liaise with internal departments to improve workflows, resolve operational issues, and implement system enhancements for portfolio optimizationVendor & TPA Management : Work alongside the Vendor Management team to monitor and ensure Third-party Administrator (TPA) service performance complies with contractual obligationsStrategic Execution : Partner with the Head of Accident & Health to implement key business strategies for the Group Health segmentHandle reinsurance reporting (including Maxis and MLRE portfolios)Monitor and manage team turnaround times (TAT) for case underwriting and stakeholder communicationTake on other projects or tasks as assigned, including ad-hoc responsibilitiesQualification and Experience Requirement
Degree in any field / or relatedAMII / CII / CMII / DMCII or equivalent insurance qualificationMinimum 5 years' experience in Employee Benefits / Group Medical Underwriting and / or similar role / capacityStrong analytical capabilities with strategic underwriting expertiseLeadership and Team development
