About the role

Join CHENG & CO TAXATION SDN BHD' as a Tax Manager / Assistant Manager based in Batu Pahat, / Johor Bahru, Johor. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for providing strategic tax advisory and compliance services to the organisation and its clients. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the company meets its tax obligations and optimises its tax position.

What you'll be doing

  • Overseeing the preparation and filing of accurate and timely tax returns, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, and indirect taxes
  • Providing tax advisory services to the organisation and its clients, including tax planning and structuring, tax risk management, and interpreting tax laws and regulations
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations
  • Staying up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, and communicating the impact to the organisation
  • Developing and implementing tax strategies to optimise the organisation's tax position
  • Supervising and mentoring a team of tax professionals to ensure high-quality work and professional development

What we're looking for

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in a tax management role, preferably in a professional services firm or a large organisation
  • Extensive knowledge of Malaysian tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercial tax advice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop a team of tax professionals
