Senior Manager, Reserving & Reporting

Provide support and services to the Actuarial Services department in carrying out actuarial valuation tasks, and also in relation to the department’s other responsibilities including production of the Financial Condition Report, Stress Testing, independent pricing reviews, and other tasks as they arise. Primary lead in reserving and statutory reporting whilst actively collaborating with MFRS17 team on MFRS17 reporting. He / she will be the subject matter expert on BAU actuarial competencies. Job Responsibilities
Projection of IBNR, Claims Liabilities and Premium Liabilities Day-to-day lead to produce monthly IBNR projection for financial reporting Day-to-day lead to perform quarterly and FYE valuation of claims liabilities and premium liabilities in accordance with regulatory requirements, including data quality, methodology, assumption setting, review of results and reporting via valuation report and presentation slides Provide insights on the underlying trends based on the analyses performed, and assist Head of Actuarial Services to generate recommendations to the business for further improvement Identify and investigate any anomalies such as large movement in claims reserve by engaging relevant teams such as Claims, Finance and Reinsurance Provide guidance and review the work of team members, highlight concerns, challenges and salient points to Head of Actuarial Services Accountable to maintain RHBI’s valuation processes and tools, and to continuously explore improvements to the process such as exploring the use of specialist actuarial software ResQ or incorporating checks and controls within the existing templates Financial Condition Report (FCR)
Lead the team to propose FCR planning and execute the analyses / investigations required for FCR, including financial & capital strength, products, experience analysis, asset liability management, liquidity and reinsurance structure Plan and perform stress testing (setting of stress scenarios, calibration of stress severity, modelling and interpretation of results) for the purpose of FCR and ITCL setting, and contribute towards update of RHBI’s Capital Management Plan Propose areas of concern for further analyses based on understanding of business and insights from BAU Assist Head of Actuarial Services to perform independent review on insurance product pricing, such as validation of pricing, review of Pricing Team’s generalized linear model (GLM) and fire profitability analysis MFRS 17
Contribute to the alignment of basis between MFRS 4 and MFRS 17 financial statements Contribute to the reconciliation between MFRS 4 and MFRS 17 financial statements Further Responsibilities
Assist Head of Actuarial Services in engagement with external consultant actuary, auditors and regulators Plan and respond to any ad-hoc requests such as BNM survey, quantitative impact analysis Review and update SOPs owned by the department, and propose draft for any new SOP Provide guidance and coaching to actuarial staff, as well as other departments Work with CoE Lead to ensure team is performing well and help to identify ways to improve skillset within the team Support career and skills development of team by defining a clear development plan & trainings Key Requirements
Bachelors in Actuarial Science / Statistics / Mathematics, or similar degree Part or fully-qualified fellow of a professional actuarial body Strong analytical and statistical skills, knowledge in general insurance and regulatory requirement Good attention to detail and able to complete tasks efficiently and independently Excellent organisational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritise among concurrent demands. Able to communicate and present results effectively at committee meetings. Highly proficient at Microsoft Excel ideally with some experience in programming and data management. Able to manage and coach a team of Actuarial Executives. Able to coach and share actuarial insights with other departments Seniority level
