Technical Manager
Technology Strategist – Network Automation & Transformation position is responsible to develop the technology roadmap to shape and lead the strategy for transformation and automation of U Mobile's network infrastructure.
This role will analyse emerging trends, identifying opportunities for improvement, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design automation solutions and drive network modernization initiatives. The role will leverage cutting-edge technologies such as AI, ML, and digital twin, combines with network knowledge, to develop the strategy for autonomous network and innovation driving network and organization efficiency
Key Accountabilities
Develop a forward-thinking technology strategy and roadmap for network automation, leveraging AI and ML to improve network management and drive transformationAlign the strategy and roadmap with the organization's overall objectives, future network needs, and digital transformation goalsAssess the network infrastructure, identify gaps, and define future technology adoption goalsTrack and study of technology evaluation, market trend as inputs to strategy for new and emerging technologies and enablersEvaluate and incorporate emerging AI / ML technologies and methodologies applicable to network automation, including benchmarking technologies / solutions with industry best practices to recommend improvements or new technologies.Source and explore with vendors and technology partners, e.g. for AI / ML-powered network automation tools, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic direction.Lead related new technology RFP, including vendor negotiationSupport periodic technology sharing with management teamWork with cross-functional teams to align network automation strategies with business objectives and infrastructure needs, and for technology PoC / trial.Industry representation and engagementRepresent U Mobile in technical industry forum or standardization bodies for new technologiesEstablish relationships with technology providers, solution providers, and other partnersProvide network automation & transformation strategy to support the yearly budget planning (AOP)About You
Education / What people Know :Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Data Science or related fieldExperience / What people Have Done :Minimum 7 years working experience, with >5 years in network strategy, architecture and planning, with a focus on network automation & transformation
Knowledge and understanding of mobile network architecture and operations, as well as network automation, self-healing networks, and performance optimization, e.g. adoption and applications of AI and ML, and digital-twin etc.Strategize and lead RFP / RFQKnowledge in network and cost modelling for scenario analysis and simulationExperience in leading new solutions, enablers, and product evaluation, trials, and testingFamiliarity with cloud platforms and network automation integration, and hands-on experience with industry automation tools, implementing automation solutions for network provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and management is preferredCompetencies / What people Can Do :Represent UM in interaction with external parties, industry forums, and regulatory bodiesEstablish and maintain good partner relationships with key partnersStrong technical knowledge and a balanced technical – business mindsetStrong acumen of technical and businessGood mentoring, coaching skillsetsPersonal Attributes / Who people Are :Business focus and customer centric - passionate in delivering best value to customerStrong strategic and critical thinking mindset; Able to make strategic recommendations and proposals; identifying potential risks and proposing mitigationsSelf-motivated, positive, open, with "can-do" attitude; agile and able to learn fastAble to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication, inter-personal skills, and professionalism in representing U Mobile externally, in industry forums, and MCMC etc.What's Next ?
