You’ll translate customer concepts and internal specifications into accurate 2D drawings and 3D models, ready for machining, fabrication, and assembly. You’ll own drawing quality, revision control, and manufacturability—working closely with Sales, Production, QC, and Purchasing.
Key Responsibilities
Produce complete 2D manufacturing drawings (orthographic, sections, details) and 3D models for :
Brush cores, shafts, hubs, endcaps, jigs & fixtures, holders, aluminum channels, strip / tuft patterns
Simple sheet-metal parts (laser / waterjet), turned & milled parts (CNC), plastics (PP, PBT, PA6 / PA66)
Apply correct tolerances & standards : ISO 2768, ISO 8015 (GPS), basic GD&T where needed.
Define BOMs (materials, quantities, finishes, coatings), explode assemblies, and tag parts clearly.
Manage revision control (Rev A / B / C), change logs, and drawing release to shopfloor.
Check manufacturability (DFA / DFM) and cost awareness (standard stock sizes, tool availability).
Prepare customer approval drawings (GA), and internal job sheets aligned to Sales order.
Liaise with Production / QC to close feedback loops; update drawings after first-article inspection.
Maintain drawing libraries, templates, and title blocks; ensure file hygiene and versioning.
Optional : simple CAM / toolpath prep or DXF nesting for laser / waterjet is a plus.
Must-Have Skills
CAD mastery : SolidWorks (preferred) or AutoCAD / Inventor / Fusion (strong 2D & 3D).
BOM structuring, part numbering, and neat title-block discipline.
Basic materials & process knowledge : aluminum, stainless, mild steel, plastics (PP, PBT, PA6 / 66), silicone.
Comfortable converting rough sketches / customer images into clear, toleranced drawings.
Detail-oriented; able to self-check and catch mistakes before release.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Industrial Design or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of experience in drafting for machining / fabrication (fresh grads with strong portfolios considered).
Portfolio of 2D drawings + 3D models (PDF + native files) is required.
Tools You’ll Use
SolidWorks (or equivalent), DraftSight / AutoCAD, MS Office / Google Workspace.
File versioning & naming conventions; PDF / A export standards.
Measuring tools with QC (calipers, micrometers) for on-site verification when needed.
Soft Skills & Mindset
Clear communication; organized and calm under deadlines.
Ownership mindset—treat each drawing like it’s heading straight to the machine.
Continuous improvement (Kaizen / 5S) attitude; learns from NCRs and feedback.
Success Metrics (First 90 Days)
Drawing release OTD ≥ 95% vs. internal schedule.
First-pass yield on shopfloor from your drawings ≥ 98%.
Zero critical NCRs due to drawing errors (dimensions / tolerances / process notes).
Library hygiene : updated templates, part-number scheme applied consistently.
Working Conditions
Compensation : Market-rate salary with performance review; EPF / SOCSO / EIS compliant.
Growth : Exposure to ETO manufacturing, direct feedback loop with production, clear path to Senior Draftsman / Process Engineer.
