Job Overview :
The Electronic Sourcing Manager is responsible for sourcing and purchasing electronic components, PCB and PCBA, LCD and Monitors, sensors, IoT boxes, and related services needed by the company to produce high-quality medical devices. This includes managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that electronic components meet both budget and quality standards. The role requires a deep understanding of the electronics industry and strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills. The role focuses on cost-effective procurement while driving innovation and mitigating geopolitical risks to enable business growth.
Location : Ideally Penang, but other locations can be considered.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate suppliers of electronic components, mechatronics, monitors, PCBA, with projects / platforms up to 30 million €.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors; represent Fresenius in front of suppliers in Malaysia and ASEAN countries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams (e.g., Category Manager Engineering, Production, R&D in Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, USA, China) to understand specific needs and source appropriate products.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers; manage contract agreements to ensure compliance and drive cost reductions while maintaining quality and timely deliveries.
- Assess cost-effectiveness of sourcing strategies and recommend alternatives; evaluate product quality and ensure it meets company standards; monitor and ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve supply chain disruptions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technology developments, and emerging suppliers; drive innovation and implement sourcing strategies to optimize cost and quality; focus on obsolescence risk reduction.
- Collaborate with inventory managers to ensure suppliers are ready and contracts are in place; manage shipping, delivery schedules, and inventory replenishment; analyze and forecast demand and mitigate risks.
- Develop and manage the sourcing budget; track and report on cost savings and spending; identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans for supplier failures or disruptions.
- Prepare and present reports on sourcing performance, supplier performance, and market trends; maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, contracts, and supplier communications.
Skills and Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, with supply chain, procurement training or experience.7+ years of experience in procurement or sourcing in the electronics or related industry with strong technical knowledge.Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence stakeholders; expertise in sourcing strategies and market analysis.In-depth knowledge of electronic components, materials, and industry standards; analytical mindset to manage costs, risks, and suppliers.Strong project management and organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP software.Certifications (optional but advantageous) : CSCP, CPSM, Six Sigma or Lean.Problem-solving and critical thinking; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments; ability to work with stakeholders globally.Typically office-based but may require regular visits to suppliers or manufacturing facilities. Remote or partial home office possible, with some days in the office if needed.Fast-paced environment with deadlines and production schedules; may require national or international travel to meet suppliers or attend industry conferences.Seniority level
