Why does this job exist and why is it critical?

This role is to support Head of Finance & Corporate Assurance helping business to establish and maintain sound internal controls. The role holder will exercise significant judgement to identify areas of risk and improvement, delivering insightful findings and identify problems and root causes through analytics.

What are you accountable for?

  • As a core member of the audit engagement team, collaborate with auditors throughout the entire audit lifecycle (planning, fieldwork, and reporting) to identify risks and design effective data analytics procedures to test controls and business processes.
  • Contribute to the drafting of audit reports by clearly articulating complex data-driven findings, their associated risks, and practical recommendations to a non-technical audience, including senior management.
  • Perform data profiling, cleansing, transformation and enrichment to prepare data for analysis; conduct analysis using data analytics tools like SQL and Power BI; develop and generate reports, visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders to obtain and consolidate data from various structured and unstructured data sources across the organization including databases, APIs, Excel files, etc.
  • Analyse audit analysis requirements and lead in the design and operationalization of audit automation using applicable technologies.
  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of audit automation, ensuring internal control tests are accepted and endorsed by Business before operationalization; monitor and track closure from audit automation reports ensuring findings are remediated with appropriate actions.
  • Analyse data to identify control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, revenue leakage, or potential fraud by investigating outliers, patterns, and trends.
  • Document audit automation design documentation, testing results and data analytic procedures for audit workpapers.
  • Stay current with auditing data standards, regulations and analytics best practices.

    • What do you need to have for this role?

  • 4-6 years of work experience including in audit function (internal or external) and using data analytics tools.
  • Experience as a data analyst, or professional certification in data analytics are an added advantage.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with auditing processes, standards, and documentation.
  • Possess business acumen and overall business process, operations and compliance understanding.
  • Ability to manage strict deadlines and handle pressure.
