Role

Role Reports To : Head of Corporate Affairs Metro Asia and Regional Office

Location : Asia Pacific, Malaysia, Selangor, Petaling Jaya

Work Location : Hybrid

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement strategies to shape public policy and stakeholder engagement for Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and cross-functional teams in the markets; report to the Senior Director, Corporate Affairs Metropolitan Asia and APAC Regional Office.
  • Establish and manage a robust corporate affairs strategy to optimize stakeholder engagement and ensure access to products and solutions.
  • Lead strategy execution, drive advocacy and impact at local levels through employee and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide strategic assessments and develop corporate communications plans for internal and external stakeholders to shape external environment and enhance trust and reputation.
  • Conduct horizon-scanning and insights to connect policy trends with business strategy.
  • Build and amplify content, vet reporter inquiries, draft messaging, speeches and testimony; review external content and provide strategic counsel on global trends.
  • Serve on the Country Leadership Teams and contribute to strategic decision making.
  • Embed external policy objectives and stakeholder engagement into business plans.
  • Partner with leaders to identify priority public policy and government affairs opportunities that maximize business value.
  • Ensure business model and commercial objectives are reflected in function priorities.
  • Provide input on company strategic plans regarding external policy and stakeholder forces.
  • Lead coordination of trade association memberships and regularly assess ROI.
  • Cultivate a strong network of external stakeholders to support policy objectives.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with internal and external policies, laws and requirements.

What We Are Looking For

  • At least 10 years of experience in government affairs and public policy in Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Political, legislative or public sector experience, with meaningful tenure in a large multinational corporation.
  • Deep understanding of external environments and political decision-making; able to position and address sensitive issues.
  • Strong leadership with cross-functional policy strategy experience to support business objectives and build trust.
  • Proven ability to earn trust of corporate, governmental or social leaders and act as a trusted advisor.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence stakeholders in a matrix environment.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic, growing environment; collaborative yet capable of challenging ideas.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and in teams, with all levels of the organization and with government officials.
  • Ability to analyze policy issues and communicate findings to varied audiences, both written and oral.
  • Experience managing complex projects; excellent English and Malay communication skills.
