Finance (Senior) Executive

Main Purpose of Role

The achievement of the highest possible level of financial integrity, reporting, governance of compliance, process improvement in the operating company in line with the overall strategy and policies of Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc.

Core Responsibilities and Duties

The Finance (Senior) Executive is responsible for assisting in delivering financial, planning and analysis reporting for Malaysia.

The core responsibilities include (but not limited to) :

  • Support and contribute to the overall strategies of the Company / Group
  • Abide by the working Rules and Regulations of the Company / Group
  • Actively promote the policies and procedure of the Company / Group
  • Ensure timely reporting requirements are adhered to.
  • Apply the current Operating Procedures of the Company and make suggestions and recommendations as to how they can be improved, rationalized, or simplified as per the Group’s Guideline and local authority compliance requirement.
  • Keep the Finance Manager or stakeholders fully informed of any problems which might affect the business operation, and all relevant comments must always be volunteered immediately.
  • In an ethical manner, ensure the financial integrity of Spirax Sarco Sdn Bhd financial operations as required by the laws and regulations of Malaysia and the governance policies of Spirax Sarco Engineering (Group) and its subsidiaries where applicable
  • Co‑responsible for Annual Reports and overseeing the annual audit process in accordance with Group standards using Deloitte, and when required, replacing them as our external and independent auditor in strict accordance with the laws and regulations of the counties in which we operate while complying to Group audit requirements.
  • Co‑responsible for Taxation Submission with Group standards using KPMG, and when required, replacing them as our external and independent tax agent in strict accordance with the laws and regulations of the counties in which we operate while complying to Group audit requirements.
  • Assist in producing Monthly Flash Statements, Monthly Management Accounts and other such reports as may be required from time‑to‑time in accordance with the requirements of Company, Group, the Regional General Manager and other business units with the Group as authorized by the General Manager or other Group representative.
  • Involve in analysing and reporting for and to the Finance Manager on monthly expenses of all departments and direct market business units and provide advice on whether they are at reasonable levels when compared to last year and within Plan.
  • Advise and volunteer comments to the Finance Manager, General Manager, Regional General Manager, Group Director and other Group employees on accounting matters.
  • Act as liaison with external professionals, including those specialising in auditing, tax, banking and governmental services, customers and vendors.
  • Assist in providing timely information for cash flow and cash management functions and immediately report any discrepancies or variation to the Finance Manager & General Manager.
  • Take charge of Accounts Receivable Function : oversee all our customers and establish credit limits, collection, overdue, escalates collection efforts to collection agents or lawyer, if required.
  • Take charge of Accounts Payable Function : oversee all our vendors and establish adequate payment policies / terms.
  • Be involved in corporate governance, processes improvement, initiatives to change, any assigned tasks by Company to align with Group’s directive or strategic.

Required Skills

  • Over 3 years’ experience in managing full financial reporting or any core finance cycle.
  • Experience in governance, taxation, auditing, FP&A. Proven track records in respective areas. Strong business & financial acumen.
  • Degree or equivalent. Strongly IT literate – MS packages.
  • Strategic thinking and being hands on at the same time.
  • Ability to collaborate and manage stakeholders in a matrix organisation.
  • Experience of working to and adhering deadlines. Demonstrate drive and tenacity.
  • Willing to challenge the status quo and undertake tough decisions where required in compliance advice.
