Overview
We are seeking an experienced Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise databases. The role involves installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup & recovery, and ensuring high availability of mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Database Administration
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle and MS SQL Server databases.
- Create and manage database instances, schemas, and security roles.
- Perform proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and optimization of database environments.
- Backup & Recovery
- Implement and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies (e.g., RMAN, Always On, Log Shipping, or third-party tools).
- Regularly test recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
- Performance & Optimization
- Analyze execution plans, indexes, and queries to enhance performance.
- Optimize storage and memory usage for efficiency.
- High Availability & Replication
- Manage clustering, replication, and failover solutions (Oracle RAC, Data Guard, SQL Always On).
- Monitor uptime and ensure SLA compliance
- Security & Compliance
- Apply patches and security updates to maintain compliance with IT policies.
- Implement access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Work with development teams to support database design and query optimization.
- Provide L2 / L3 support for production incidents and troubleshooting.
- Documentation & Automation
- Maintain proper documentation for processes, configurations, and procedures.
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripts or tools
Pre-requisites
Experience in a similar role for 10 to 15 yearsA minimum of 10 years of experience in Oracle & 8 years in SQLTechnical / Professional Skills
Oracle 12c / 19c administration, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, RACKSQL Server 2016 / 2019 administration, Always On, SSIS / SSRS / SSASStrong SQL and PL / SQL or T-SQL scripting skillsExperience with performance tuning and query optimizationKnowledge of Linux / Unix and Windows environmentsFamiliarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or OCI)Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.10 to 15 years experience as a DBA with both Oracle and SQL Server environments.Hands-on experience with database upgrades, migrations, and patching.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Database uptime and SLA adherence.Backup success and recovery test results.Number of performance issues resolved proactively.Timely completion of maintenance and patching tasks.Preferred Qualifications
Certifications like Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified : Azure Database Administrator Associate.Experience with database automation tools or DevOps integration.Familiarity with NoSQL or cloud-native databases.Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Ability to work in 24x7 support environment and handle on-call duties.Seniority level
