Overview

Purpose of the job : The paint engineer’s role involves general Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities within Paint Operations; have specific responsibilities for the optimization of the current equipment and identification of next generation equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up Production Orders and close Production Orders on time (based on capacity and plan)
  • Prioritise operations and materials to ensure maximum output and minimize delay / downtime
  • Monitor the Production Orders carried out on time and complete within the budget allocated
  • Keep paperwork organised and systematic
  • Attend team meetings to discuss production status and on-going problems
  • Work with Managers to analyse job orders, develop production tasks, and schedule
  • To follow up and work with the operation team towards meeting the KPI’S target
  • Ensure Safety and 5s operation meeting the requirements
  • To coordinate weekly production report among production section supervisors. Update the weekly production report and report to Production Manager

Key accountabilities :

Process Development and Maintenance

  • Advice detailed process step sheets, including visual aids, quality requirements and safety information. Maintain Ease deck
  • Process Control

  • Maintain and control processes and drive improvements by reducing process variability
  • Facilities / Layout

  • Work with Facilities and Production to determine efficient station layouts, including modifications to existing facilities. Liaise with Facilities and Maintenance department. Technical approval of large equipment / installations while planning workplaces with ergonomics in mind and provide standard for references
  • Manpower

  • Work with Production Engineering to develop effective manpower requirements reflecting volume mix and model specification, including methods improvements to achieve target
  • Tooling

  • Select appropriate tools, jigs and fixtures, including specialised hand tools, power tool, spraying equipment to meet quality and productivity targets, whilst ensuring operator safety targets are achieved
  • Health and Safety

  • Liaise with the Health and Safety department to ensure all processes and materials are suitable for the manufacturing environment
  • Production Support

  • Investigate and resolve Manufacturing Engineering related issues, providing timely containments to ensure that product quality is not compromised and inform technicians of process changes.
  • Quality Improvements

  • Work with Current Quality and Production Engineering Department to ensure new or modified product content is integrated seamlessly into the production environment and investigates problems, analyses root causes and derives resolutions. Will use 8D Problem Solving Process to ensure sustainable quality products
  • Technical Support

  • Provide information of paint process / sequence and technical specifications
  • Job Requirements : Qualifications

  • Paint application experience is essential (Primer, base and Clear coat – water and solvent based) Understanding of Paint Application Equipment, paint mixing and painting system
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawing
  • Ability to create and maintain visual indicators (excel graphs) to communicate current and future positions of projects / countermeasure actions at a senior level
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Methods (especially painting) procedures and process technology strongly preferred
  • Education :

  • Minimum Degree in Engineering
  • Experience :

  • Minimum 3 years working experience in Painting process management field
  • Others Skills :

  • Problem solving and analysis skills
  • Planning, Organizing, Managing, Leadership and Supervisory skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Commitment and team work
  • Proven written and verbal communication at all levels within the organization with good negotiation skills
  • Intercultural competencies to build productive work relationships
