Teaching Responsibilities
Teach Mandarin as a second or foreign language to lower secondary students (Years7–9), preparing them with the linguistic foundation and cultural understanding necessary for success in the IGCSE First or Foreign Language Mandarin curriculum.
The teacher will foster a love for languages, facilitate effective communication, and support students' progression in all four language skills : listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor's degree in Education, Mandarin Chinese Language, or a related field. Having a master's degree is an advantage.
- Teaching Certification : A teaching certification or qualification is required. For international candidates, a recognized international teaching qualification is required.
- HSK Certification : Having HSK certification can be a valuable asset and advantage because it signifies the proficiency in the language, demonstrates the ability to teach which is essential for effective language instruction.
- Language Proficiency : Proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English is necessary.
- Teaching Experience : Having over 2 (TWO) years of experience, especially in a similar international school setting, can be an advantage. Previous experience teaching Mandarin with a focus on HSK exam preparation.
- Knowledge of Curriculum : Familiarity with international curricula and international language testing standards such as the Cambridge International (IGCSE) or International Baccalaureate (IB) can be an advantage.
- Cultural Sensitivity : A strong understanding of Chinese culture and the ability to adapt to an international, multicultural environment is highly valued. Candidates hailing from China are especially welcome and offer a distinct advantage for the position.
- Passion for Teaching : A genuine passion for teaching and a dedication to students' academic and personal growth.
- Communication Skills : Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
