Planning and preparing courses and lessons in Gradelink (online school management platform) according to their assigned grade levels and topics.
Teaching to the educational needs of students and establishing an appropriate learning environment, whether class is held in person or virtually.
Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of students according to the policies written in the Staff Handbook and contracts.
Key Accountabilities
Prepare / maintain accurate records in Gradelink (includes daily attendance, lesson plans, assignments, and grades).
Submit requested paperwork on time, according to guidelines and dates set by Senior Management Team.
Promote the general progress and well-being of individual students and of any class or group of students assigned to him / her.
Maintain good order and discipline among students in accordance with the policies of Hope Academy and safeguard their health and safety both when they are authorized to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorized school activities elsewhere.
Communicate and consult with the parents of the students assigned to his / her classroom and / or homeroom.
Support the school-wide use of organizational materials, including, but not limited to agendas, graphic organizers and rubrics, merit sheets, and Behavior Intervention Plans.
Communicate and co-operate with such persons or bodies outside the school as may be approved by the Senior Management Team.
Provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of students.
Participate, if required, in any scheme of staff development and performance review. This may include observing or being observed by fellow teachers or administration.
To provide cover in case of a colleague's absence provided that :
Cover takes place during an assigned plan period;
Cover is not required more than 1 period per day.
Review from time to time his / her methods of teaching and curriculum area.
Participate in arrangements for his / her further training and professional development as a teacher, contributing to the professional development of other teachers by sharing best practices or other exemplary skills.
Advise and co-operate with the principal and other teachers (or any one or more of them) on the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching program, methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral arrangements.
Participate in meetings at the school which relate to the curriculum for the school or the administration or organization of the school, including pastoral arrangements.
Support school-wide efforts in fundraising, PTA events, and other special events.
Take such part as may be required of him / her in the review, development and management of activities relating to the curriculum, organization and pastoral functions of the school.
Participate in administrative and organizational tasks related to such duties as are described above, including the ordering and allocation of equipment and materials for their classroom.
Provide supervisory duty of students before school, during break, during lunch or after school for an amount of time based on the teaching timetable. Additional duties may be assigned if teaching time table is less than a full load.
Required Specifications
Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status or Current Teaching License from eligible country
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in the area of Education or specific subject area with Teaching certificate.
Special Education qualifications are helpful but not required (Experience in Special Education accepted in lieu of specific qualifications.)
Experience
Substantial and successful experience of teaching and supporting students with a wide range of special needs across a full ability and age range
At least 3 years experience within a school system
Wide knowledge of curriculum in assigned topic or grade level
Skills / Qualities
Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information
Must have good organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Maintains acceptable attendance record and is punctual
Ability to gather, analyze and interpret data
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues
