This role reports directly to the Head, Islamic Wealth Management Malaysia. It also carries a matrix reporting line to the Head, GIWM Products and Propositions, providing Group-level visibility, collaboration, and strategic integration across regional product development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and continuous enhancement of the IWM product shelf and value proposition for the Malaysian market, positioning the team as a centre of Shariah excellence that sets Group-wide standards and accelerates speed-to-market delivery of innovative, high-quality products and processes.
- Design and execute a forward-looking product development strategy that drives innovation, sustains competitive advantage, and ensures uncompromising adherence to Shariah principles across all offerings.
- Conduct deep market intelligence and customer insights analysis to anticipate emerging trends, evolving client preferences, and untapped opportunities, translating findings into actionable product concepts and market-ready solutions.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration by aligning product development with business objectives, marketing strategies, and stakeholder expectations, ensuring seamless execution throughout the product lifecycle.
- Forge strong partnerships with Maybank Group entities, external product providers, and technology vendors, leveraging synergies to expand product capabilities, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen market positioning.
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle management of IWM products, from ideation and design to launch, enhancement, modification, or retirement, ensuring agility, compliance, and customer-centricity at every stage.
- Establish robust performance measurement frameworks to track product profitability, market penetration, and customer satisfaction, implementing timely corrective actions and optimization strategies to maximize outcomes and shareholder value.
Requirements
Proven expertise in Islamic finance, wealth management, and end-to-end product development, with a track record of delivering innovative, Shariah-compliant solutions that drive market growth and client value.Professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) are highly desirable, reflecting advanced technical proficiency and industry recognition.Deep subject‑matter knowledge in Islamic wealth management, complemented by strategic vision, leadership acumen, and strong product management capabilities, including financial modelling, portfolio structuring, and regulatory compliance oversight.Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence decision‑makers, articulate complex concepts clearly, and deliver high‑impact presentations while maintaining strong risk and compliance awareness.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to translate data into compelling insights, dashboards, and executive‑ready materials.Seniority Level
