Scope

The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah / Centre / Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and other obligations normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM. The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part of his duties. The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees, and participate in the general life of the IIUM community. The officer is expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a Trainee Lecturer

    • Assist in teaching sessions under supervision.

  • Undertake training and professional development activities.
  • Participate in Departmental and Kulliyyah academic and administrative activities.
  • Register for and pursue a PhD program at the earliest available opportunity and complete within a specified timeframe.
  • As a Lecturer

    • Conduct engaging teaching and learning activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and academic quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
  • Conduct research and supervise postgraduate research projects.
  • Write papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and other events within and outside the institution.
  • Participate in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.

    • Minimum Qualifications

  • A Medical Degree is an essential qualification.
  • Candidates who also possess a Master’s or PhD qualification in a relevant field of Basic Medical Sciences will be given priority.

    • Minimum Competencies

  • Ability to inspire students with your passion.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.

    • Language Qualifications

  • Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
  • IELTS Band 6 or MUET Band 4. Candidates without these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
