Regional Lead, Member Engagement and Experience (MEE) - Europe

IFAC During 2024 IFAC shifted its strategic focus to maximizing member value and experience. The Member Value Proposition (MVP) was created and is currently embedded into all IFAC activities. IFAC has traditionally delivered member services from a centralized operating model based in New York. As part of the transformation to a new target operating model, IFAC will move to a global multi-location model, which will greatly enhance our ability to deliver value to member organizations around the world. Position Summary

The Regional Lead, Member Engagement and Experience (MEE), Europe, will be responsible for customizing, delivering, and maximizing the MVP in Europe for each member organization. The role includes developing strong relationships and collaborating with members and key stakeholders such as Regulatory Bodies, Universities, Supreme Audit Institutions, Business Associations, and Stock Exchanges. In addition, the role involves working closely and in collaboration with regional bodies. The position is also responsible for identifying and managing the regional global volunteer pipeline for IFAC and ensuring proactive communication with members across the region. The ideal candidate will already have strong relationships and an established network within the European Accounting Profession. All regional activities will need to be coordinated with the global MEE team to ensure service-level consistency around the globe. This role reports into the Lead, MEE – North America and Europe.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include those that are set out below. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Identify and action ways to customize, deliver, and maximize the MVP for each member organization to continuously strengthen and improve the member experience across Europe.
  • Utilize data and insights to understand, prioritize, and respond to varying members' and jurisdictional needs.
  • Communicate proactively with members across the region to foster strong, collaborative relationships that support their needs and objectives.
  • Provide advisory and advocacy support on legislative and regulatory matters to members.
  • Work closely with the IFAC European Network Partners to align strategic activities and ensure delivery of shared objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with the global MEE team to ensure service level consistency around the globe.
  • Act as a role model for the MVP in being a champion of integrity and professional quality in own role.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Professional Accountancy Organizations (PAOs) and other key stakeholders.
  • Work closely and in collaboration with bodies.
  • Connect, engage, and collaborate with a wide range of key stakeholders, such as National Governments, Financial Regulators, Tax Authorities, Independent Audit Oversight Authorities, Central Banks, Corporate Governance Institutes, Regulatory Bodies, Universities, Supreme Audit Institutions, Business Associations, and Stock Exchanges.
  • Identify and manage potential recruits from across the region to the global volunteer pipeline for IFAC.
  • Qualifications & Required Skills

  • 2-5 years of experience in membership relations, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, or professional services leadership, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, BSc in Business / Management / Economics or equivalent required.
  • Experience in member engagement, stakeholder engagement, or a similar role, preferably within the accountancy profession.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and oral—paired with excellent active listening abilities.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in one or more European languages is preferred.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with an established network in the European accounting profession.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of the European region’s cultural, economic, academic, and regulatory landscape.
  • Knowledge of trends and issues affecting the accountancy profession in Europe, with the ability to drive change as needed.
  • Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data, interpreting results to track trends, measure impact, and generate actionable insights.
  • Practical experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Member-centric mindset with enthusiasm for the growth and success of the European region.
  • Proactive, forward-looking approach and commitment to the public interest.
  • Ability to identify and execute opportunities to enhance the MVP, while navigating cultural and jurisdictional sensitivities.
  • Collaborative team orientation with the ability to work effectively across multiple cultures and organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and gravitas to build consensus among diverse perspectives.
  • Solid project management skills, creativity, and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe and internationally.
  • The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Additionally, if an applicant is US-based, provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also be able to enroll in our company’s 401 (k) plan, as well as a deferred compensation plan, provided they meet plan requirements.

    The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At IFAC, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for candidates in the NY-Metropolitan region is $80,000 to $100,000.
