We are looking for an experienced AIX & Solaris Engineer with a strong background in data center hardware handling . This role goes beyond system administration, requiring hands-on expertise in managing enterprise hardware platforms (IBM Power Systems and Oracle SPARC), including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance. You will be responsible for ensuring both the physical and operating system layers of our critical infrastructure are reliable, optimized, and secure.
- Perform hardware handling activities such as racking, stacking, cabling, hardware replacement, and troubleshooting physical server components.
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM AIX and Oracle Solaris operating systems on enterprise hardware.
- Manage server provisioning, upgrades, and patch deployments while coordinating with data center teams.
- Administer virtualization technologies such as LPARs, PowerVM, Zones, and LDOMs .
- Support system migrations, hardware refresh, and decommissioning of legacy systems.
- Conduct health checks and performance monitoring of servers at both hardware and OS levels.
- Provide escalation support for hardware and OS-related incidents, including root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with vendors (IBM, Oracle, storage / network teams) for hardware support and warranty claims.
- Document hardware inventory, system builds, troubleshooting procedures, and maintenance logs.
- Ensure compliance with security and operational standards in system and hardware handling.
- 5+ years’ experience managing IBM AIX and Oracle Solaris environments.
- Proven hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems and Oracle SPARC servers, including installation and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of hardware components : CPUs, memory, disk arrays, HBAs, and network interfaces.
- Experience in data center operations : physical server installation, cabling, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in system administration tasks : user management, patching, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Familiarity with SAN / NAS storage integration and backup solutions.
Preferred skills
Exposure to Linux (RHEL / SUSE) in mixed OS environments.Knowledge of monitoring tools (Nagios, Tivoli, Oracle Ops Center).Certification in IBM or Oracle hardware / OS (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator, Oracle Solaris Certified).Ready to take the next step in your career? Apply now!
