At Assistant Manager level, you’ll have a mix of “hands‑on recruitment / TA” responsibilities and leadership / strategic responsibilities. Some examples :
Strategic / Leadership responsibilities
Partner with senior business stakeholders (e.g., business unit heads, operations leads) to understand growth plans, staffing forecasts, skill-gaps and translate them into recruitment strategy.
Develop the talent acquisition roadmap : sourcing strategy, pipelines, employer‑brand initiatives, candidate experience improvements, diversity / hiring analytics.
Lead a small team of TA BPs / recruiters (or at least mentor / oversee them) — ensuring that requisitions are being addressed, KPIs met, team is effective.
Set and monitor TA metrics (time‑to‑fill, cost‑per‑hire, quality of hire, retention of new hires, funnel conversion) and report insights to leadership.
Use data / analytics to identify bottlenecks in hiring, propose continuous improvement / process optimisation.
Possibly vendor / agency management (when external sourcing or head‑hunters involved).
Ensure compliance with labour laws, internal HR policies, and align talent acquisition with broader HR strategy (onboarding, retention, internal mobility).
Operational / “Business Partner” responsibilities
Manage full‑cycle recruitment for a defined set of roles (often for key or senior roles) or oversee the recruiting for a business unit.
Source, screen, assess, interview candidates (or guide the team doing so) and manage offers and onboarding hand‑off.
Build and maintain talent pipelines for hard‑to‑fill roles; establish sourcing channels (social recruiting, referral, job boards, events).
Serve as main point of contact for hiring managers : consult on role definition, market salary benchmarking, candidate fit, interview process design.
Improve candidate experience (communication, feedback, onboarding transition) and employer brand for the unit.
