Role Summary
The Manager of Industrial Relations & Governance will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of industrial relations and governance within the company. This role provides professional advice and guidance to management on employment matters, ensures compliance with relevant laws and governance frameworks, manages and develops the IR team, supports regional offices (including engaging external legal firms when required), and collaborates closely with HR colleagues to drive alignment across people practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on employment matters in line with the Employment Act 1955 and Industrial Relations Act 1967 .
- Interpret and apply company policies to ensure fairness, consistency, and compliance with governance requirements.
- Advise and support leaders on conflict resolution, grievance handling, and workplace disputes.
- Guide and monitor performance management processes, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Oversee progressive discipline and termination processes in a fair, compliant, and transparent manner.
- Manage, coach, and develop the Industrial Relations team, building capability and professional growth.
- Partner and collaborate with HR colleagues to ensure consistent application of HR and governance practices across the organization.
- Support regional offices , including managing industrial relations matters and engaging external legal firms where necessary.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies, procedures, and governance frameworks related to employee relations.
- Conduct knowledge sharing sessions and organize roadshows for awareness on industrial relations, governance, and workplace practices.
- Build strong relationships with management and employees to promote a positive, fair, and collaborative workplace culture.
- Stay updated on changes to labor laws, governance standards, and regulations, providing timely recommendations to management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in law.Minimum 5–7 years of experience in managing industrial relations, governance with leadership exposure.Strong knowledge of Malaysian labor laws, governance practices, and employee relations best practices.Regional exposure and ability to work with external legal counsel is an advantage.Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills.Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.#J-18808-Ljbffr
