Company Background

We are representing our client a well-established Public Listed manufacturing company based in Melaka (HQ). As the company prepares for expansion, they are looking for a Chief Sales Officer (New Position) to be based at either in Petaling Jaya, Selangor (Sales Office) or Melaka (Plant - HQ).

Position Title : Chief Sales Officer (CSO) / Head of Sales

Reports To : CEO / Board of Directors Industry : Manufacturing and global distribution of a diverse range of low-voltage (LV) power cables (including power cables, control cables, special cables, etc.) Working Hours : 8.30am to 5.30pm (Monday to Friday) Role Details & Benefits

  • New Position This is a newly created strategic role to drive growth.
  • Budget : RM20,000 RM30,000 basic salary (depending on experience & fit).
  • Performance Bonus : Yes.
  • Car Allowance : ~RM2,500 / month (final confirmation pending).
  • Claims : Travel, entertainment, and related business expenses are claimable.
  • Travel Requirement : Primarily Malaysia; occasional regional exposure (currently exporting to Southeast Asia).
  • Base Location : Either Melaka or Kuala Lumpur. For the first 36 months, the CSO is required to travel between KL and Melaka (approx. twice a week) for product familiarization.
  • Team Size : ~12+ direct reports

Key Responsibilities :

  • Sales Strategy & Planning Formulate comprehensive sales strategies, market development plans, and annual sales targets aligned with the Groups overall business objectives.
  • Team Leadership Lead and manage a sales team of ~10+ members, including Sales Managers, Product Managers, and Executives, with focus areas on both Government-Linked Companies (GLC) and non-GLC markets.
  • Market Development Expand domestic market share and explore new market segments, with a strong focus on nationwide sales. Prioritize opportunities for higher value-added products and solution-based offerings.
  • Key Account Management Personally handle major client relationships (e.g., state utilities, property developers, transportation, and energy companies) to secure long-term partnerships.
  • Export Market Growth While the current focus is Malaysia and Southeast Asia, leverage experience in US or other international markets to develop future export strategies.
  • Tender & Negotiation Lead pricing strategy, tender preparation, and contract negotiations to optimize win rates and profitability.
  • Sales Process Optimization Drive digital transformation of the sales function, including CRM / ERP integration and sales performance analytics.
  • Cross-Department Coordination Collaborate with manufacturing, logistics, procurement, finance, and legal teams to ensure efficient project execution and delivery.
  • Risk & Credit Management Oversee accounts receivable, credit policies, and collection processes to minimize financial risk.
  • Product Development Feedback Work closely with R&D and product teams to refine product offerings and meet evolving market needs.

    Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field; MBA is an advantage.
  • Over 10 years sales leadership experience, including 5+ years in senior management.
  • Proven record in achieving sales growth locally and internationally.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of cable industry standards and tender processes.
  • Track record in building and transforming sales teams from the ground up.
  • International market development experience, especially in US and high-growth regions is an added advantage.
