Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the technical evaluation, resolution, and management of warranty claims and issues that arise during the warranty period of MODEC projects, particularly focusing on FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) units.

This role is to support the Project Coordinator and Project Manager in daily project activities, including planning, coordination, progress monitoring, and reporting. Location : This role may require travel to client sites, supplier facilities, and offshore locations as needed to manage warranty claims and issues.

Frequent travel or temporary relocation to site are expected.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Evaluation and Resolution

  • Conduct thorough technical investigations to understand and resolve warranty claims.
  • Analyze the root causes of warranty issues and start planning for appropriate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and contractor to implement solutions.

Vendor And Supplier Management

  • Interface with vendor, suppliers and subcontractors to manage warranty claims related to their products and services.
  • Ensure that suppliers comply with warranty terms and conditions and support the resolution of technical issues.
  • Engage in negotiations with suppliers regarding repair, replacement, and cost recovery as necessary.
  • Project Coordination

  • Support the Warranty Manager in coordinating warranty activities across multiple projects.
  • Assist in the planning and allocation of resources required to address warranty claims effectively.
  • Monitor the progress of warranty resolutions to ensure timely completion and client satisfaction.
  • Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to provide project updates and progress reports.
  • Support and prepare for the project meetings, presentations, and reviews.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Documentation And Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all warranty claims, investigations, and resolutions.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation to support Supplier's warranty claims or insurance claims.
  • Contribute to regular reports on warranty activities, costs, and trends for management and stakeholders.
  • Support Process Improvement

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall reliability and performance of MODEC's projects.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices with project teams to prevent recurrence of warranty issues.
  • Compliance And Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all warranty activities comply with industry standards, contractual obligations, and company policies.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to verify that warranty repairs and replacements meet required specifications and standards.
  • Support audits and inspections related to warranty project.
  • Health, Safety, Security And Environment (HSSE)

  • Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture within warranty activities.
  • Ensure compliance with HSSE policies and regulations during the execution of warranty repairs and technical interventions.
  • Participate in HSE audits, inspections, and incident investigations as required.
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 5 years in project management, construction, offshore execution or technical support within the oil and gas industry, particularly involving FPSO projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Marine, offshore Technology, or related field).
  • Relevant certifications in project management (PMP) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, design, and maintenance of FPSO units or similar offshore structures.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to engage in technical discussion and analysis.
  • Problem-Solving

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Communication

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience in managing technical projects, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and follow through on complex technical tasks.
