Position Overview
The Accounts & Finance Executive is responsible for managing the company’s full spectrum of accounting and finance functions. This role goes beyond bookkeeping to include providing financial analysis, advisory input, and proposals for effective financial planning to support business growth in the event services industry. The incumbent will also be entrusted with handling sensitive and confidential information with the highest integrity.
Key Responsibilities
A. Accounting & Reporting
- Data entry into Accounting System.
- Maintain monthly cash book records with proper filing.
- Handle full set of accounts (GL, AP, AR, reconciliation, journal entries).
- Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
- Ensure compliance with MFRS and company accounting policies.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and bankers.
- Prepare and review annual statutory financial statements.
B. Financial Planning & Advisory
Prepare and monitor cash flow forecast to ensure liquidity.Prepare, review, and update budgets and forecasts (not only once, but periodically).Conduct financial and variance analysis (budget vs. actual).Provide strategic financial advice to Management for decision-making.Support project / event costing, pricing strategies, and profitability analysis.Propose financial strategies for cost optimization and revenue growth.C. Compliance & Statutory Duties
Ensure timely submission of statutory obligations including SST,LHDN, etc.Keep updated with local tax regulations, industry laws, and financial reporting requirements.Ensure company’s financial practices are in line with Malaysian regulations.D. Treasury & Credit Control
Monitor and manage banking facilities, loans, overdrafts, and credit lines.Ensure sufficient funds for operational and event project needs.Monitor debtor / creditor aging and follow up on collections.Oversee payments to suppliers and contractors on time.E. Internal Control & Confidentiality
Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard assets.Protect sensitive information such as financial data, payroll, and company strategies.Uphold the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality.F. Payroll & HR Support
Verify employee claims, and statutory deductions.Liaise with HR / Admin on staff cost budgeting and workforce planning impact.G. Cross-Functional Support (Specific to Event Services)
Work closely with Project, Sales & Marketing teams to verify accurate costing for event proposals.Provide input on vendor negotiations and contract feasibility.Support event planning with financial risk assessments.H. Reporting & Management Support
Prepare and present financial dashboards and KPIs for management.Highlight risks, irregularities, and opportunities for improvement.Provide recommendations for long‑term financial sustainability.Skills & Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, MICPA, CIMA, MIA) is an advantage.Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting / finance, preferably in the event services or service industry.Strong knowledge of Malaysian tax, statutory requirements, and financial reporting.Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in accounting software (SQL, AutoCount, Xero, Bukku, or equivalent) and MS Office.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Excellent communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.High integrity and ability to handle confidential information.Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work independently.Core Competencies
