Legal & Compliance Manager

OUS Group Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The role aims to ensure the organization operates within all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards, while also mitigating legal risks and promoting a culture of compliance. This includes overseeing legal matters, developing and implementing compliance programs, and providing guidance to management and employees on legal and compliance issues.

Key Accountabilities

Legal Risk Management and Advisory

  • Review, draft, and vet contracts and legal documents to ensure compliance and protect company / group interests.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks , providing timely advice to management.
  • Provide legal advices and solutions to support informed decision-making.
  • Conduct legal research on industry developments and regulatory changes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and advise on facility registration, product / operation compliance, and external claims.
  • Oversee litigation and dispute resolution , working with external counsel for favorable outcomes.
  • Prepare reports on compliance incidents, investigations, and regulatory updates , ensuring corrective actions are taken.

Regulatory and Stakeholder Relations

  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, ensuring well-managed compliance strategies and submissions.
  • Serve as the company's liaison with government agencies, local authorities, and trade associations to ensure compliance and foster positive relationships.
  • Oversee certifications and industry standards , representing the company in relevant committees.
  • Address customer inquiries on regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Legal Compliance Program Development and Management & Fostering compliance culture

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures : Drafting clear and concise guidelines for employees to follow, ensuring consistent application of compliance standards.
  • Handle compliance issues and investigations : Investigating allegations of non‑compliance, implementing corrective actions, and preventing future violations.
  • Develop and manage a regulatory compliance register, ensuring adherence to local and international standards.
  • Maintain a secure legal filing system for efficient document retrieval.
  • Maintain an updated regulatory document library to enhance compliance capabilities.
  • Develop and deliver legal & compliance training to promote integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Support cross‑functional teams in implementing and maintaining compliance policies and procedures.
  • Requirements & Qualifications

  • LLB (Hons) from a recognized law school.
  • 4–5 years & above, post qualification experience (PQE).
  • Experience in legal and compliance roles, with strong problem‑solving, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong legal writing skills, adaptable to legal, corporate, and business contexts.
  • Proficient in legal research methodologies and analysis.
  • Ability to simplify and present complex legal and regulatory information to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics clearly.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in interpreting regulations and policies.
  • Proven problem‑solving ability, including root cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective actions.
  • Effective organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Upholds high ethical standards and demonstrates strong integrity.
