Overview
Senior Analyst, Trade Agreements Sourcing Strategy – VF Corporation, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Based in VF’s office in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur). The Senior Analyst will provide support in customs, global free trade agreements (FTAs) and preference programs to develop and manage the platforms and processes necessary to execute and optimize VF’s global duty spend.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support the implementation of strategies to minimize VF’s global duty spend.
How You Will Make a Difference
As an extended member of VF’s Customs and Trade organization around the world (AMER, EMEA and APAC regions), you will support workflow and decision making related to FTA design, ROO interpretation, and preference programs to optimize VF’s sourcing and duty outcomes.
- Partner with VF’s Global Product Supply organization to establish procurement frameworks guiding the acquisition of raw materials that meet and support FTA or preference program Rules of Origin (ROO) for finished goods.
- Develop data, costing and reporting models supporting a globally optimized Landed Duty Paid (LDP) sourcing framework.
- Collaborate with VF’s extended Customs and Trade organization to support upstream brand design and development connectivity and processes governing FTA and preference program design choices.
- Support the overall allocation strategy aimed at lowering the duty footprint and assessing the impact of production shifts on VF’s LDP.
- Assist with optimization reviews on diagonal and regional cumulation opportunities to claim preferential origin on finished products.
- Support alignment with Global Product Supply leadership to establish short-, medium-, and long-term multi-horizon supply planning objectives centered on utilizing and optimizing global FTAs and preference programs.
- Leverage VF’s systems platforms, trade & customs master data, and collaborate with the Digital Technology organization to develop data models, architecture, and algorithms for optimized allocation output.
Skills for Success
2–5 years of experience in customs and global trade compliance, preferably within the apparel and footwear sector. Demonstrated ability to support trade strategy initiatives, analyze trade data, and review BOMs to apply FTAs across multiple regions including the United States, Canada, EU, UK, and APAC.
Educational / Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Trade, or a related discipline2–5 years of experience in a customs or global trade capacity, preferably in the apparel and footwear sectorFoundational understanding of the global harmonized tariff system and rules of originExperience with supporting the interpretation and application of FTA preferences for APAC, EMEA, and US markets. Familiarity with agreements such as : USMCA (formerly NAFTA), DR-CAFTA, US-EU-Jordan FTA, EU-VN FTA, UK-VN FTA, CPTPP, GSP programs, EU-CAMER 2200, EU-Mexico FTA, EU-EG FTA, CN-ASEAN, APTA, RCEPFamiliarity with BOM analysis according to FTA Rules of Origin is highly desirableExperience with trade compliance and sourcing systems such as SAP GTS, Descartes / Customs Info, Infor NexusExperience working with large data sets using Power BI, Tableau, or Business Objects is highly desirableFamiliarity with customs data platforms such as US Customs ACE or EU import systems is highly desirableStrong communication and presentation skills; ability to support reporting and insights for senior stakeholdersAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed, cross-functional environmentFluent in EnglishSeniority level
