The Manager, Corporate Communications is responsible for leading Orkim Berhad’s corporate communication, branding, and stakeholder engagement initiatives to strengthen the Company’s public image, reputation, and transparency.
This role develops and executes communication strategies that support corporate reputation, stakeholder confidence, media positioning, and internal alignment. The position ensures all corporate messages, media engagements, and stakeholder communications are consistent, professional, and aligned with the Company’s governance and business objectives.
Strategic Corporate Communications
Develop and implement an integrated corporate communication strategy to enhance Orkim Berhad’s visibility, credibility, and brand positioning.
Advise and support the CEO on corporate announcements, messaging, and public statements to ensure alignment with business and governance priorities.
Coordinate and prepare speeches, press statements, presentation materials, and corporate publications.
Media & Public Relations
Draft, review, and manage corporate press releases, media interviews, and key announcements.
Maintain proactive engagement with media representatives and regulatory communication channels.
Monitor media coverage and industry trends, preparing reports and insights for Management.
Internal Communications & Stakeholder Alignment
Develop internal communication plans to ensure staff are well informed about company milestones, and corporate direction.
Ensure consistent and accurate messaging across all departments.
Prepare briefing materials for the CEO and senior leaders for internal or external engagements.
Brand & Reputation Management
Safeguard Orkim Berhad’s brand image and ensure consistent use of brand identity across communication platforms.
Oversee preparation of corporate collaterals, publications, and visual assets for corporate events and announcements.
Manage reputation-related communications and act swiftly on issues that could impact corporate perception.
Crisis Management & Crisis Communications
Lead the communication response during crises, incidents, or urgent corporate matters to ensure timely, accurate, and coordinated messaging.
Work closely with the CEO, Safety / Operations teams, Legal, and Senior Management to develop crisis communication statements, FAQs, media responses, and internal updates.
Establish and maintain a crisis communication protocol, including escalation pathways, spokesperson preparation, holding statements, and stakeholder notification processes.
Provide real-time monitoring of media and public response during crises and recommend response strategies to protect reputation.
Governance & Regulatory Alignment
Ensure all external communications are reviewed and approved in accordance with corporate governance, legal, and disclosure standards.
Liaise with Legal, Company Secretary, and Investor Relations teams to ensure message accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
Maintain proper records and documentation of corporate announcements, media interactions, and disclosure approvals.
Stay updated on communication trends, digital platforms, and industry best practices.
Recommend improvements to communication channels, tone, and methods to enhance engagement and visibility.
Benchmark communication practices against peer listed companies to maintain industry relevance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
Professional certifications in Public Relations or Corporate Communications are an advantage.
Skills
Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and verbal).
Strong corporate writing, editing, and presentation skills.
Proactive communicator with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management ability.
Ability to handle sensitive communications with sound judgment.
Skilled in using digital communication tools and social media platforms.
Knowledge
Comprehensive understanding of corporate communication, branding, and media relations.
Familiarity with regulatory expectations and governance communication standards.
Knowledge of crisis communication protocols and best practices.
Experience
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, PR, or stakeholder management.
Proven experience in managing media engagement and corporate reputation at senior management level.
Experience in crisis management communications and public listed environment is highly preferred.
