Database Administrator / Cloud Support Engineer (3–6+ years) – Oracle & MSSQL
Job Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Database Administrator (DBA) / Cloud Support Engineer to manage, optimize, and support our database environments across on‑premises and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL , and a strong working knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases. The role involves hands‑on management of cloud databases, performance tuning, automation, and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise databases including Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and other RDBMS / NoSQL platforms.
- Troubleshoot database incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve issues impacting production and non‑production environments.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and deployments following change management processes.
- Design and implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions both on‑premises and in cloud environments.
- Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization to meet SLAs.
- Execute database migrations to and from cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Maintain and enforce backup, recovery, and retention strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Support DevOps and infrastructure teams with database automation, CI / CD integration, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) provisioning.
- Manage access control, user roles, and security policies in compliance with audit and governance standards.
- Monitor database health and performance using tools like OEM, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, etc.
- Maintain detailed documentation for database environments, configurations, and SOPs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration and operations.Proven expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL administration.Hands‑on experience with cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Aurora , or equivalent.Familiarity with cloud migration tools (e.g., AWS DMS, Azure Database Migration Service).Strong SQL scripting and query optimization skills.Working knowledge of Linux / Unix environments and shell scripting.Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, OEM, Prometheus).Understanding of DevOps practices, CI / CD pipelines, and database automation tools.Strong knowledge of data security, compliance, and governance standards.Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) , AWS Certified Database – Specialty , Microsoft Certified : Azure Database Administrator Associate , or equivalent.Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).Exposure to containerized databases using Docker / Kubernetes .Soft Skills
