The Stage Manager is responsible for the smooth operation, coordination, and execution of all stage activities during the festival. This includes managing stage schedules, coordinating performers and technical teams, ensuring safety and timing accuracy, and maintaining a seamless flow of performances and announcements. The Stage Manager acts as the main point of contact between performers, emcees, sound and lighting crews, and event management.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Event Preparation
- Collaborate with teams to understand the stage schedule, performance requirements, and technical needs.
- Work closely with performers; flight tickets, accommodation and so forth.
- Assist in preparing the stage timeline and run sheet for the festival.
- Conduct technical rehearsals with performers, MCs, and crew.
- Coordinate with sound, lighting, and visual technicians to ensure readiness.
- Brief performers on stage rules, entry / exit timing, and equipment use.
During the Festival
Manage all on-stage activities and ensure performances run on schedule.Cue performers, emcees, and technical teams for seamless transitions.Communicate with stage crew via radio or headset to execute stage changes.Handle any technical or performance-related issues calmly and efficiently.Maintain clear communication between backstage and event control room.Ensure safety and order on and around the stage area.Supervise stage assistants or volunteers helping with setup and performer support.Post-Event Duties
Oversee stage strike and load-out in coordination with technical teams.Report any equipment issues or damages.Provide a post-event report summarizing performance flow, challenges, and improvement suggestions.Ensure the stage area is clean and cleared after the event.Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.Excellent communication and coordination abilities.Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines.Experience in event management, theatre, or live production preferred.Knowledge of sound, lighting, and AV systems is an advantage.Calm, professional, and proactive attitude in problem-solving.Working Conditions
