Senior WAN Network Engineer

The WAN Engineer position is the technical interface between IT departments, the business partners and all other company departments. This candidate is expected to have complete product knowledge, technical ability, and an in-depth knowledge of Cisco Routers, Cisco Meraki and Cisco Switches for design and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and supports a large WAN environment of over 1000 locations within Malaysia and abroad.
• Supports day-to-day operations that include routing, switching and hardware replacement.
• Works closely with the Network Operations Centre to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
• Performs day-to-day network administration tasks including network equipment installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Provides WAN support for initiatives that revolve around our optical backbone.
• Maintains and supports network technologies that sustain data centre and branches operations.
• Troubleshoots network performance issues and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Provides periodic network traffic and security status reporting.
• Contributes to root cause analysis reports for network outages.
• Prepares network diagrams, floor plans, and schematics using Visio where required.
• Responds to emergency calls in the evenings and on weekends regarding WAN / LAN outages.
• Perform 24x7 standby (on rotation) and participate in Sev1 incidents.
