Job Overview

Application Engineer will work very closely with AMETEK Solidstate Controls (SCI) international sales and marketing in identifying business opportunities for the region. This role will interface closely with customers in identifying their needs and collecting and interpreting VOC (Voice of the Customer) data. This role will provide solutions to companies such as Exxon / Esso, BP Amoco, Chevron, CNOOC, Petronas, PLN, EGAT, Pertamina, Saudi Aramco and other large industrials.

What You Will Do

• Interact with Solidstate Controls offices located throughout the world.
• Base this position at AMETEK Solidstate Controls operations in Malaysia. Remote work is possible.
• Possess both technological and business skills with in-depth knowledge of industrial batteries, AC-DC rectifiers, DC-AC inverters, and AC regulators. Communicate with engineering and business partners and travel as needed to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Consult with design and / or manufacturing engineering on highly technical problems.
• Prepare complete Technical & Commercial Proposals for Strategic Accounts, involved on both technical and commercial fronts in RFQs assigned.
• Generate proposals for products and systems including commercial terms, technical compliance, and project details, emphasizing product advantages for the customer. This includes :
• Review pricing, technical specifications, and commercial terms on new orders.
• Resolve issues with customers prior to order acceptance.
• Provide support to Clients, Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and Sales Partners in clarifying factory-generated proposals and re-quoting as required.
• Assist and support Sales / Channel Partners, Representatives & Regional Managers in cost-effective product selection and in the design of complete power protection systems.
• Collaborate with RSM and / or Director of Sales to improve booking forecasts.
• Work with RSM and / or Director of Sales to create strategies to keep key accounts.
• Travel to client and sales representative locations for sales calls, quotations, seminars, training, and relationship building.
• Give technical presentations and demonstrate understanding of AC / DC electrical power systems.
