What role you will play in the team
ExxonMobil values independent thinking, initiative, growth, and collaboration. We are expanding our manufacturing control system organization and seek control system engineers who enjoy dynamic, collaborative, and diverse global teams to support ExxonMobil manufacturing sites with business data workflow, data processing, and accessibility. We have an opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Control Systems Engineer to join our global team. The role is based in Menara ExxonMobil, Kuala Lumpur.
What you will do
- Represent the Business Unit in providing effective above-site manufacturing digital and data optimization support.
- Leverage central work processes and tools and identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Grow and develop junior engineers.
- Manage partnerships with business and key contacts through quality work deliverables.
- Support process control systems infrastructure (software / hardware) and advanced control applications for refineries and chemical plants.
- Design and engineer computing infrastructure such as servers, operating systems, and networks.
- Integrate and deploy advanced control applications into the industrial control systems (ICS) environment.
- Provide above-site Control Systems sustainment support.
- Utilize work processes and tools to facilitate effective above-site support and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Interface remotely with manufacturing Site Engineers / Site Single Point of Contact to meet site priorities and opportunities for reliable control system operation.
- Establish yourself as an extended member of the site Control Systems team and contribute to work-planning and prioritization discussions.
- Collaborate with Application Engineers to ensure applications infrastructure within scope of responsibility operates at optimum level.
- Maintain a strong working relationship with the Control System Support Team (CSST) regarding roadmaps, upgrades, enhancements, or initiatives involving equipment or systems related to the ICSE.
- Interface and provide input to SME and Supervisor on issues and opportunities.
- Monitor and surveil integrity parameters to ensure reliable operations.
- Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and provide integrity recommendation stewardship.
- Identify and analyze bad actors to reduce equipment downtime.
- Apply data analytics, digital tools / technologies, and operationalize upgraded work practices through digital transformation.
- Ensure overall integrity effectiveness and management, including criticality assessments, risk-based strategies, optimal task intervals, and adherence to regulations and inspection reviews.
- Provide regional oversight of integrity work product metrics for quality, effectiveness, and efficiency in achieving site objectives.
- Coordinate and communicate between global centers and business affiliates for knowledge transfer, learning sharing, skill management, and maintaining relationships.
- Provide technical mentoring and on-the-job guidance to junior engineers.
- Learn and adapt to an agile and flexible working environment and stay abreast of latest industry standards and practices.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, you must have or be able to demonstrate the following :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Information TechnologyExperience with virtualization, networking, Windows servers, operating systems, Active Directory, domain controllers and / or PowerShellExperience with software configuration, integration, testing and technical documentationStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with internal and external customersTroubleshooting skills, innovative and analytical thinkingIntellectual rigor, strong drive and desire to lead changeAbility to work in a multi-cultural global teamUnderstanding of operational aspects such as high availability, monitoring, security, and robustnessPreference will be given to those with the following additional skills / abilities :
