Your impact

An exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join this dynamic, fast-paced group that requires people with a hands-on approach. We are on a journey to build the best-in-class group finance function to support the rapid growth of the Jacobs Group and you will be part of that team. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the role will include responsibility to help prepare the management and statutory accounts whilst maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, posting month end transactions and reviewing, and ensuring group accounting policies are applied. In addition, you will proactively interact with internal and external stakeholders providing financial information as and where required.

The primary responsibilities are;

  • Handling monthly and yearly closing - processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Performing monthly variance analysis
  • Liaise and work with shared service center (GBS), external auditor, tax consultant, company secretary, banker, government authorities
  • Handling statutory audit and attend to external auditors’ request and queries during annual audit.
  • Preparation of financial statements that include cash flow, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.
  • Handling tax compliance work such as tax estimation, SST return, withholding tax return, provide information to tax agent to prepare income tax return
  • Preparing and submitting manual intercompany invoices
  • Other duties as assigned (e.g. government statistics survey, internal audit, tax audit, corporate reporting requirements.)
  • Collaborate with Financial Managers and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks.
  • Coordinate and manage payment and billing details of external service providers, contractors and vendors.
  • Identify discrepancies in ledgers and accounts, tracking them to the source and correcting them.
Here's what you'll need

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate with a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will positively demonstrate the following attributes You must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and operate effectively in a fast-paced evolving environment. You will have a proactive approach, inquisitive by nature with a strong eye for detail, credible and professional behavior, Computer literate with excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail with an ability to work in a dynamic environment.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in ACCA, or Accounting & Finance with relevant experience in Accounting software used by the company is Oracle
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Excellent Skills with Microsoft Office;
  • Experience in Balance Sheet Account Preparation.
  • Knowledge of Business Math; Understanding of Budgetary Principles.
  • Some initial experience in audit industry is an definite advantage
