Responsibilities
- Perform advanced mechanical engineering duties including inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of smelter equipment (e.g., conveyors, pumps, compressors, cranes, furnaces).
- Lead and manage mechanical maintenance projects to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers and maintenance staff.
- Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, ensuring compliance with operational schedules.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production targets and facility upgrades.
- Oversee and coordinate contractor work and other service providers, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion.
- Plan, monitor, and execute maintenance activities during routine shutdowns.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on cost reduction, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Maintain accurate documentation such as mechanical schematics, maintenance logs, and risk assessments.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in preparing budgets for mechanical maintenance activities and shutdowns.
- Monitor and control expenditures for materials, spare parts, and contracted services to ensure cost efficiency.
- Review and manage inventory levels for critical spare parts to ensure availability during emergencies and shutdowns.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to source and maintain high-quality materials for mechanical systems.
- Support audits and inspections related to mechanical systems to meet industry and regulatory standards.
- Maintain documentation and records required for compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Organize and deliver training sessions for the maintenance team on mechanical systems and best practices.
- Promote knowledge sharing across teams to improve technical skills and operational efficiency.
- Develop plans and lead mechanical repair operations during equipment emergencies or unscheduled shutdowns.
- Act as a key point of contact for quick response and resolution during critical breakdowns.
