The group you’ll be a part of

This is a Supplier Engineering position in the Electrical Systems Group of Supplier Engineering and Technology (SET) at Lam Research in Malaysia. In this role, you will contribute to developing new designs in vacuum systems, including advanced valves, heated products for managing particles and sealing issues, actuators, bellows, metrology such as precision manometers, and pumping systems. Our Complex OEM team operates across various high-technology fields, providing opportunities for cross-group collaboration and involvement in diverse projects.

The impact you’ll make

As a Supplier Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer at Lam, you'll ensure that suppliers' manufacturing processes and products meet quality standards by designing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance programs. You will develop inspection, testing, and evaluation methods for production processes and finished products at global supplier locations. Analyzing production data to identify trends, you will collaborate with suppliers to resolve technical, quality, and production challenges, supporting Lam's commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable products.

What you’ll do

  • Apply your semiconductor manufacturing and vacuum technology expertise to address technical and quality issues throughout the product lifecycle, especially during new product introductions.
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of supplier engineering tasks and serve as a primary contact for designated OEM suppliers.
  • Travel to supplier manufacturing sites to conduct assessments, audits, and investigations, implementing improvements based on findings.
  • Manage programs and projects focusing on problem-solving, manufacturing, and testing process improvements, including RCCA and quality system reviews.
  • Act as a technical liaison among OEM suppliers, product groups, development teams, and customer front-end teams to facilitate quick issue resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize experience with industrial quality systems, engineering documentation, product qualification, change processes, and problem-solving in product and component lifecycle issues.

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of experience in semiconductor equipment systems and component-level problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Failure Analysis (FA), 8D, 5-whys, FMEA, Design-for-Reliability, Weibull analysis, etc.
  • Understanding of modeling, especially thermal and flow modeling from suppliers.
  • Experience providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for engaging with various company levels and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of electrical and manufacturing standards like Semi S2, OSHA, ISO9000 / 14000, RoHS, UL, IEEE, MIL, IPC 610 / 620.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical assembly, fabrication, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in vacuum system design and technical engineering is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the entire industrial systems lifecycle.
  • Experience with PCB assembly, inspection, and testing is also beneficial.

    Work location flexibility

    Our hybrid work models include On-site Flex, with 3+ days on-site and remote options, and Virtual Flex, with 1-2 days on-site and remote work the rest of the week.
