Penerangan pekerjaanNative fluency in English and Cantonese Advanced skills in cultural dynamics (cultural implications and idiomatic expressions) of both Cantonese and English Thorough knowledge of medical and other industry terminology; ongoing study of glossaries and training materials including scripts provided by our clients Completion of at least high school education onwards Education in languages / translation / interpretation and / or healthcare-related fields preferred A verifiable certificate from an approved medical interpreter certification provider would be an added advantage The hiring process will include written and audio language assessments Must be able to look at a computer screen without significant difficulty or fatigue throughout the duration of scheduled shift Be able to continuously operate a computer monitor, keyboard and mouse Must be able to remain in a stationary position during the majority of scheduled shift
Responsibilities
- Responsible for handling telephone or video calls to render consecutive interpretation between Cantonese speakers and English speakers.
- Ability to process information quickly and concisely, recognize sensitive cultural differences, and remain professional and courteous at all times.
- Use appropriate industry terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices.
- The calls may involve simple or complex, non-technical or technical subjects in Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel and Hospitality, 911 emergency services, Law Enforcement, Courts, and General Business.
