As a draughtsman in our licensed land surveyor firm, you'll play a vital role in transforming survey data into detailed drawings and maps that help with planning and design. Here's a friendly look at what your work will involve :

Key Responsibilities :

Understanding Survey Data

  • Work with surveyors to learn about the areas being surveyed, including natural features and boundaries.
  • Review and interpret survey data, including measurements and photos from the field.

Creating Drawings and Maps

  • Use CAD software to create accurate technical drawings and maps based on survey data.
  • Make sure your drawings represent features like land contours and structures clearly.
  • Update existing maps as new survey information comes in.

    • Following Standards

  • Ensure all your work meets local, state, and federal regulations for land surveying and mapping.
  • Adhere to industry standards for accuracy and presentation.

    • Quality Checks and Revisions

  • Conduct quality checks on your drawings to ensure everything is correct.
  • Make adjustments to your work based on feedback from surveyors or clients.
  • Keep organized records of all drawings and revisions for easy reference.

    • Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and other team members to meet project needs.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and clients to clarify requirements and provide updates.

    • Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain documents related to your drafting work, like project notes and specifications.
  • Help create reports and presentations that include your drawings and maps.

  • Stay updated on new surveying technologies and CAD software through ongoing learning.
  • Attend workshops and training sessions to enhance your skills.
