Drilling Superintendent
ELSA ENERGY is seeking a Drilling Superintendent to lead drilling operations, ensure safe and optimized well production, and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, optimized, and quality operations; ensure correct planning and assignment of activities within the Drilling Operations Team.
- Attend rig move and coordination meetings to protect company interests and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead rig inspections and close out all critical action items in accordance with industry standards and company minimum requirements.
- Maintain well integrity in line with company procedures.
- Interface with sub‑surface and project teams to resolve drilling, sub‑surface, and project technical issues and manage SIMOPS and interactive operations safely.
- Represent the department on rotational duty and as Operations Advisor on the Corporate Emergency Coordination Team; keep emergency procedures aligned with company policy.
- Maintain professional relationships with partners, primary drilling contractors and service providers to deliver safe and efficient wells.
- Participate in multidisciplinary well‑project planning, execution and review; collaborate with drilling engineers on drilling programs and detailed instructions.
- Review well progress against plans and communicate impacts to overall schedule and development plans.
- Co‑coach and develop assigned staff; ensure adequate technical and soft‑skills training.
- Prepare periodic and special reports, attend daily coordination and front‑end loading meetings.
- Capture lessons learned in detail and maintain a lessons‑learned register for subsequent projects.
- Guide and supervise drilling supervisors to maximize team performance.
- Work in line with HSE policy, ensuring awareness and compliance with HSE rules, regulations and Nippon Operating Practices; revise work methods and performance standards.
- Apply Nippon’s policies and professional / engineering standards; recommend improvements when appropriate.
- Escalate major problems or changes in programs to the Drilling Manager for decision; have work accomplishments subject to managerial review.
Requirements
High School certificate, diploma or equivalent.At least 10 years of core drilling experience, including one full HPHT project with relevant land / offshore drilling experience.Valid IWCF (International Well Control Forum) certificate.Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a team environment.Seniority level
