Role Profile

Purpose of Role

Tenby Setia Ecohill is keen to employ an enthusiastic and capable Head of Humanities. The school prides itself on a progressive approach to teaching, with lessons including dynamic collaborative activities and a challenging pace. The successful candidate will be able to lead exciting lessons which inspire students to achieve amazing results.

    Head of Humanities – Key Responsibilities

    At Tenby International School Setia EcoHill, every student is valued, and we want them all to experience amazing learning and outstanding success.     As the Head of Humanities, you will need to be passionate about achieving the best for every young person in your school. You will be knowledgeable about learning and how to guide the team in achieving amazing learning outcomes for students. You will be good at working with and inspiring your colleagues, our students, and their parents. You will be knowledgeable about keeping children safe, well, and happy, and appreciate the value of a strong, supportive school ethos and community.

    Teaching and Learning

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Humanities department, ensuring alignment with school goals and the ISP Learning Principles.
  • Oversee departmental planning, resource allocation, timetabling, and budget management.
  • Drive the use of student data to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
  • Lead departmental meetings, professional learning, and performance development processes.
  • Oversee internal and external assessments, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity of results.
  • Ensure high‑quality curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation for Key Stage 3 and IGCSE humanities subjects.
  • Support high‑quality communication with parents regarding student progress and curriculum matters.
  • Ready to lead and contribute to school events, initiatives and improvement planning.
  • Ensure safeguarding, wellbeing, and behaviour expectations are upheld at all times.
  • Line management

    The Head of Humanities reports to the Deputy Head of Secondary (Academics)

    Qualifications And Experience

    Education : Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field. Have a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGDT, PGCEi or similar); A master’s degree in education or related field would be an advantage.

  • Previous middle leadership or subject leadership experience is highly desirable.
