Job Description
Oversee the pre-tender and pre-contract stages of electrical projects, ensuring precise cost estimation, competitive tendering, thorough risk evaluation, and full technical compliance. This position plays a key role in winning successful bids and driving the company’s growth, demanding strong QS and estimation expertise, commercial insight, and a solid understanding of electrical engineering works.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for electrical works, covering materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor components.
- Develop cost plans, pricing strategies, and value engineering solutions to support the preparation of competitive bids.
- Benchmark project costs and maintain updated cost databases to support future tender preparations.
- Oversee the entire tendering process, from preparation and submission to post-submission follow-up.
- Review tender documents to ensure full understanding and compliance with all client requirements.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to source and secure competitive quotations.
- Evaluate technical specifications, drawings, and client requirements to ensure full compliance.
- Identify and assess potential risks, exclusions, and clarifications throughout the bid preparation process.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design and technical inputs are aligned with commercial objectives.
- Engage with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the pre-tender stage.
- Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, and project delivery) to gather accurate and timely inputs.
- Assist directors and senior management in preparing and participating in bid presentations and negotiations.
- Compile bid summaries, detailed cost breakdowns, and pre-tender analysis reports.
- Keep comprehensive records of all tender submissions, clarifications, and related communications.
- Deliver regular reports on tender pipelines and bid success performance.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.Demonstrated experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or Pre-Contract Manager within electrical contracting or M&E projects.\In-depth understanding of tendering procedures, cost estimation methods, and electrical system design and operations.Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.Proficient in estimation software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, complemented by strong attention to detail.Capable of handling multiple tender projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
