Call for Master by Research Student (Full-Time) Further Study Opportunity under FRGS Grant Join Our Smart Manufacturing Research Team!

Project Title : “Advancing Optimization Mathematical Modelling and Predictive Maintenance Planning Through Data Analytics using IoT Manufacturing System : A Fundamental Analysis for Smart Manufacturing Research.”

Project Duration : 2 years

Monthly Allowance : RM 2,300

Mode : Full-Time Master by Research

About the Project : This research focuses on developing an IoT-enabled manufacturing data analytics framework to support predictive maintenance and process optimisation . It integrates data analytics , operations research , and smart manufacturing to enable better decision‑making through data‑driven optimisation models.

The project involves real or simulated manufacturing data collected through IoT devices, stored centrally in Google Sheets , and analysed using advanced modelling techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop an IoT-based data collection system for monitoring manufacturing processes.
• Design and implement optimisation and mathematical models (operations research, predictive analytics).
• Validate models using real‑world or simulated datasets .
• Conduct data analysis using operations‑research tools, generative AI, and statistical software .
• Evaluate performance and robustness of mathematical optimisation formulations.

Preferred Background

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Data Analytics , or related fields.

Basic understanding of IoT systems, data analytics , and optimisation / modelling .

Experience in Python, MATLAB, R , or other analytics / optimisation tools is an added advantage.

Independent, self‑driven, and eager to contribute to impactful research.
