English Language and Literature Teacher (IB MYP / IB DP)

International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) Position Summary : We are seeking a passionate IB DP Language and Literature Teacher to deliver engaging lessons in line with the IB curriculum. The role involves guiding students through critical analysis of both literary and non-literary texts, fostering a love for reading, writing, and discussion. You will help students develop analytical and communication skills essential for their IB assessments. Responsibilities : Teaching and Learning Deliver the IB Language and Literature curriculum for both Standard and Higher Levels. Lead class discussions on diverse texts, genres, and global themes. Prepare students for IB assessments like Paper 1, Paper 2, Individual Oral, and essays. Use inquiry-based learning strategies to encourage student engagement and critical thinking. Design lesson plans and assessments aligned with IB standards. Work with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular connections. Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners. Student Assessment and Support Provide regular, constructive feedback on student work. Track and report on student progress. Mentor students on their Extended Essays and other projects. Professional Development and Collaboration Participate in professional development sessions, including IB training. Engage in collaborative planning with other teachers to share best practices. Stay updated on IB curriculum changes and new teaching methods. Community Engagement Maintain open communication with parents about student progress. Participate in extracurricular activities to support student learning outside the classroom. Additional Duties All contracted teachers are required to : Supervise at least one after-school sport, club, or activity. Chaperone one after-school event (e.g., prom, school socials). Assist with school day duties, such as break and lunchtime supervision. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Education, with a specialization in English is required. A Master’s degree in Education is preferred. Teaching diploma, certificate or equivalent qualification. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably in an IB DP setting. Strong understanding of IB curriculum and assessment methods. Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with students of different backgrounds.
