Purpose of Role
We are seeking an EAL and English Teacher with a strong commitment to delivering education aligned with the British curriculum. The role focuses on fostering critical thinking, creativity, global citizenship, and a deep appreciation for English literature and language. The English Curriculum Leader will contribute to advancing digital technology integration within English education and support English teaching at KS3 and KS4, shaping the future of English education at an International Secondary school.
The role serves as a torchbearer for the British curriculum, impacting academic outcomes and the wider school community.
About Tenby Tropicana Aman
Tenby Tropicana Aman opened in 2018 on a purpose-built campus in a green setting in Tropicana Aman, just outside Kuala Lumpur. The school educates 500+ students aged 3–16 across primary and secondary, and continues to grow with a strong sense of community.
We foster active engagement in learning, celebrate character strengths, and develop leadership, resilience, a growth mindset, and life-long learning. The primary curriculum follows the National Curriculum for England with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) thematic approach, and the secondary curriculum covers Key Stage 3 and IGCSE. We are looking for someone who :
Upholds the School’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.Holds full responsibility for English language teaching and integration into the mainstream curriculum for EAL students with limited or no English.Equips EAL students with necessary English vocabulary, oral and writing skills.Works with parents, class and subject teachers to support EAL students’ English needs.Writes and implements EAL Teaching and Improvement / Development Plans.Analyses assessment data to measure EAL students’ progress.Possesses a growth mindset and embraces change.Has knowledge and experience of assessment and tracking to inform student progress, including standardised tests.Delivers INSET / training to staff as part of CPD.Assists the school in developing greater impact on learning practices.Has sound knowledge of the National Curriculum for England, curriculum development, and current educational thinking.Is an excellent practitioner, self-starter and team player.Possesses excellent time management, communication and people skills.Contributes to the wider school community.Line management
The Secondary EAL and English Teacher will report to the Head of Secondary.
Qualifications and Experience
Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
