We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Development Group. The engineer will be responsible for defining the design specs including min-max limits for robust Process Yields and Quality.
Job Summary
The Principal Mechanical Engineer will work closely with process development engineers to define design specs and limits to enable robust and reliable manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with process development engineers to define design specs / limits to enable robust and reliable manufacturing process
- Interface with equipment and process engineering teams to implement changes to the process of record design
- Create and review concept development, system architecture design, assembly & technical drawings, bill of materials, and specifications
- Create and maintain control drawings for electrodes and cells; maintain SolidWorks PDM Database
- Support pilot and production of final product by troubleshooting process and component problems
- Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for manufacturing processes, piece-parts, BOM, automation equipment, including scope development, prototyping, and fabrication
- Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
- Ensure deliverables, maintain safe machine design standards, and meet regulatory compliance requirements
- Perform engineering calculations to support design work
- Provide engineering support to Manufacturing, Procurement, and Test Engineering to facilitate transfer of designs to production
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
- Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field2-5 years of experience working in engineeringMechanical design and documentation using SolidWorks 3D design tools. Experience with additional CAD tools is a plus.Hands-on, practical engineering and problem-solving experience with a variety of commercial and / or industrial automation projectsFirm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and productsCreative problem-solving and managing measured riskStrong understanding of mechanical design principles, stack up tolerance analysis, GD&T, Statistical analysis, DFM / DFA methodologies, and root cause analysis techniquesExceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning abilityAbility to communicate effectively and clearlyWe are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
