Mechanical Design Engineer – Mpac Group
Location : Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Purpose of the Role
To provide robust, effective product design solutions to the business to ensure the business meets its responsibilities to customers & regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Provide high level design output through thorough understanding of internal / external customer and regulatory requirements.
- Continuously apply innovative thought to ensure the company's design services offer maximum value to customers.
- Maintain commercial awareness to ensure design solutions are cost effective and scope changes align with SOP.
- Manage schedules and workload to meet delivery commitments.
- Ensure design output complies with SOP and regulatory requirements.
- Effectively communicate project status to Engineering Manager, customers and suppliers.
- Play a proactive role in the department's continuous improvement program.
- Provide engineering manager with required information to evaluate project performance relative to KPI’s.
- Communicate status to stakeholders to allow proactive planning.
- Act as technical support during internal and external design review meetings.
- Support commissioning activities as necessary, including FAT & SAT.
- Apply technical due diligence; perform FMEA, design studies, POP to mitigate risk.
- Collaborate with Project Manager on resource planning and milestone development.
Qualifications
Ability to design multiple projects simultaneously.Generate and verify design documents (assembly drawings, detail drawings, parts lists, P&I diagrams, pneumatic diagrams).Interpret customer requirements and present design solutions at internal design reviews.Commercially aware of effective use of resources, scope change and implications of choices.Experience designing industrial automation in a manufacturing environment.Experience in innovative environments and providing innovative solutions.Experience evaluating technical requirements and providing viable solutions.Experience presenting designs at internal and external customer design review meetings.Experience identifying and reporting project resource requirements.Desirable : perform FMEA and apply design studies and POP; knowledge of British and international standards; risk assessments; GAMP validation procedures.Skills and Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to prioritise work within tight timescales.Proficient in 3D design software (Inventor / Solidworks).Proficient in PDM software (Autodesk Vault).Minimum 3 years design experience.Desirable : Apprenticed in mechanical or mechatronic engineering with post apprenticeship experience; HNC, HND, or BSc in relevant discipline.Employment Type
