Job Summary

The role sits within the Compliance, Financial Crime (CFCR), and Conduct Risk team. Specifically supporting the Corporate & Investment Banking businesses. The team is part of the global advisory team working with Business, COO, and Risk stakeholders. The role supports the strategy and direction of the CFCR department, providing oversight and challenge of the CIB businesses, and provides support for ongoing risk assessment and Non-Financial Risk management. The role will primarily work with the advisory teams on Policy and Standard implementations and effectiveness with our first line stakeholder. Supporting second line Risk Owners in overseeing their defined areas of responsibility across CIB. The team will also support remediation efforts across the businesses to ensure CIB remains within risk tolerance.

Responsibilities

Provide details of developments giving rise to material risk that regulatory breaches or breaches of risk tolerances may occur, and notify breaches to relevant leaders and business heads.

Support Pan CIB business by identifying and implementing regulatory requirements for the relevant CIB business to comply with those requirements.

Clarify that operational IT systems are managed by other functions; CFCR focuses on risk oversight, not IT operations or specific risk sub-types outside CFCR scope.

Help the Group meet its commitment of being "Here for good" by building a sustainable CFCR framework and providing independent risk control and specialist advice.

Execute relevant aspects of CFCR PRTFs through independent risk control and challenging cross-cutting risks proportional to the business’s complexity.

Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of CFCR commitments and requirements, and support the business to exhibit appropriate conduct and compliance.

Maintain independence, timely responses, and escalation of risks where management tolerance is exceeded; maintain constructive stakeholder relationships.

Support management of regulatory relationships with Group regulators and coordinate responses as needed.

Strategy

Support and implement the vision, strategy, direction and leadership for CIB CFCR, aligned with the CFCR Advisory leadership and the Group’s strategy.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

Identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve CFCR matters; respond to regulatory questions; embed ethics and regulatory compliance across the Group.

Project / Change Management

Participate in key change programmes for the relevant CIB business; assess change requirements and strengthen controls and compliance.

Support execution of change initiatives and track regulatory developments; maintain detailed project plans and governance reporting.

Governance

Coordinate and support governance and risk committees; prepare materials, track actions, and escalate CFCR risks to senior management as needed.

Propose control improvements; support end-to-end audit, assurance and regulatory reviews; communicate policy changes across teams.

Establish and maintain a risk-based CFCR framework under the Group’s ERMF; align governance with stakeholders across functions.

People & Talent

Lead by example and promote a culture of openness, trust and risk awareness.

Encourage prioritisation, deadline management and collaborative, inclusive work practices.

Provide feedback on CFCR matters related to remuneration when appropriate; share knowledge across CFCR Advisory colleagues.

Risk Management

Act as second line Risk Owner for appropriate CIB processes under the ERMF.

Collaborate with Product CFCR teams to anticipate horizon risks and mitigate them; manage regulatory issues with significant impact.

Maintain oversight of CFCR matters, liaise with internal audit, and provide reports to risk and control committees.

Identify and manage risk acceptance and remediation plans; share intelligence on clients and emerging risk typologies.

Business

Understand the business model and strategy to provide effective CFCR oversight and guidance.

Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and provide CFCR advice on product design, initiatives and remedial activities.

Challenge activities outside risk tolerance and support proactive risk mitigation in collaboration with the business.

Processes

Act under delegation for principal CFCR risk types within the ERMF to discharge responsibilities as second line advisor.
