About the role
We are seeking a registered Safe ty & Health Officer (Green Book Holder) to oversee and implement Workplace Safety & Health and Environmental Management Systems at our work sites. This role is critical to maintaining regulatory compliance and promoting a strong safety culture across our operations.
While not mandatory , candidates with a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) competency certificate or relevant experience in water and wastewater treatment environments will be given strong preference, as our projects often involve mission-critical water infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Workplace Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Systems at work sites.
- Develop and execute the Project Safety Plan according to requirements.
- Advise and coordinate with the Operations team on all safety, health, and environmental matters.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, EQA 1974, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DOSH (JKKP), CIDB, NIOSH, and BOMBA on safety compliance.
- Maintain the risk management system, including HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control).
- Organize and promote EHS activities to increase safety awareness.
- Enforce safety standards; conduct training, briefings, and safety promotion programs.
- Monitor and report WSH performance, including safety statistics and trends.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, occupational health programs, and permit-to-work systems.
- Lead the safety team and subcontractors in implementing company safety systems on-site.
- Ensure proper WSHE (Workplace Safety, Health & Environment) procedures and documentation.
- Conduct WSH inspections and ensure timely follow-up on findings.
- Halt operations or escalate when there are safety or environmental deviations.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions and recommend preventive actions.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, authorities, and client representatives on safety-related matters.
- Support and conduct internal audits to ensure ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS45001 compliance.
- Perform other safety-related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related fieldMust be a Registered Safety & Health Officer (Green Book holder) with DOSHMinimum 3 years of experience in EHS roles, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or engineering industriesWhile not mandatory, candidates with a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) competency certificate or relevant experience in water / wastewater treatment environments will be given strong preferenceStrong knowledge of OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, and other Malaysian safety regulations and standardsRelevant environmental certifications are an added advantageExperienced in safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering safety trainingWilling to travel and must have own transportJob Specifics
